General Questions

Which medication is better- Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

Unfortunately, there is no direct answer to this question.  Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are GLP-1 Agonists working in the same way to decrease appetite, increase feeling of fullness and promote weight loss.  Tirzepatide also has the additional impact on GIP which improves metabolism of fat.  Clinical studies report that patients using Semaglutide lose an average of 15% of their body weight. This is compared with 22% of body weight lost on Tirzepatide.  So why wouldn't everyone just choose Tirzepatide?  Thousands of clients have had tremendous success on Semaglutide.  It is an older medication with a longer track record and is significantly more affordable.   Ultimately, the decision is between you and your medical provider.  We will work closely with you to decide which medication is best for you.

Is there a best site to inject?

You should inject these medications into a fatty part of the body.  Typical sites include the belly, thigh and back of the arm.  No one site has shown to universally result in better weight loss or reduced side effects, however, since everyone has different fat accumulations in different areas of the body, you may experience different outcomes based on injecting in a different area.

How should I store these medications?

Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide should be stored in a refrigerator. Do not freeze them. They can be kept at room temperature for a limited period, but check the specific instructions provided with your medication.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

For both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

Who should not use these medications?

  • Individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2) should avoid using these medications.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.

  •

Can I drink alcohol while taking these medications?

Alcohol can affect blood sugar levels. It is advisable to discuss alcohol consumption with your healthcare provider while taking Semaglutide or Tirzepatide.
